Geography

Aurora is a very large landmass that protrudes from the heavy cloud cover that (as far as aurorans know) covers the entire rest of the world. in the center of the “island” a vast mountainous expanse rises, splitting the terrain in two. The highest points of this area are known as the Roduran Serra, and with the high clouds trapped by the serra, the area at the east is very rainy, forming the Perlin Sea, a huge freshwater lake that nurtures most of Eastern Aurora. Lush vegetation surrounds most of it and so the largest and most prosperous kingdoms in the island call these lands their home. To the south, drier steppes and woodlands are the home of countless nomads, with small settlements in  the woods between the expanses of razorgrass.
To the west, the dry Grunn mesa has become a desert after millenia without rain, cut mostly from the rest of aurora because of the Catastrophe of the Jayemdae, which took a huge bite out of the island. Northwest of the serra lie the twin empires of Nyshka and Tarun, who have been recently settling into an uneasy peace after centuries of constant wars among them.

Muna and Buna are the twin moons that travel together through arora’s night sky, with the lonely Sun always following behind, their endless dance giving rise to time, days, months, seasons, and years.
