Two moons circle the world of Aurora, tha larger one is called Muna, the smaller Buna, and they move closely through the sky in a cycle of roughly 21 days. Most cultures believe them to be playful sisters, because they seem to get closer and closer as the days pass, only for Muna to speed away and slow down again, seemingly waiting for her little sister.
The Chase
In the beggining, the world was ash and empty sky, but then the white wanderers Muna and Buna rose from the ashes. Together the sisters played on the night sky, chasing each other for an Age, but the big sister Muna, is bold and daring, while Buna is shy and reserved, and didnt like to fight so she never caught up on the case. Buna was frustraded with their game becasue she always lost, so after a while she hid under the ashes to cry all on her own. When she realised her sister was gone, Muna went looking for her but she couldn’t.
Desperate to find her sister, Muna made a lantern to light the way, hung it on the sky and ran under the ashes shouting her name time and time again. “Buna!” Muna shouted, “Buna!” she called and shouted until she was so tired that she fell asleep. Buna found her sister sleeping, with dried tears on her face, and realized that she had hurt her sister, so she made her an apology. Buna rose the earth from under the ashes, and made a bed for her sister, and spend the entire night making it perfect. She rose mountains and cut valleys, flattened plains and dug trenches, made a place where they could both play and hide over the clouds, so they wouldnt get lost again. Muna woke up to find the new land her sister had risen up for her.
The sisters talked, and Muna understood, why Buna had run away, so she said to play a new game, to fix up this land Buna made. so together they started making things. Buna was good at making things that grew, so she made the trees and bushes and grass. Muna was good at running and chasing, so she made all the creatures that roam the land. They made the land lush and vibrant and to see all that they made they climbed up to the sky.
Then Buna showed a surprise for her sister, she shut off the lantern and showed the thaousand little lights she made all around them in the sky for of them to play with, and named them their stars, and they ran across the sky again, but no longer alone.
When they got tired of chasing each other, Muna and Buna went to rest, but they realized that without the light, the creatures on their land were lost and scared, and could not find their way, so they decided to put the lantern again and named it the Sun, and when they were rested, they would shut it off again and keep playing, forever and ever, sourrounded by their little stars.
